About the Author

 Dr. Marcy Thurmond Simmons is a music educator of over 26 years and has served many of those years in the Atlanta Public School system. As a cum laude graduate of Morris Brown College, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/Voice.  To broaden her knowledge of music integration she pursued and obtained a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Coppin State College.  After which, she aspired to teach others how to use integration as an instructional tool by obtaining a Doctorate of Education in Teacher Leadership from Walden University.
